HOW TO MAKE THE VIDEOS WORK:

Firstly: Download the applicable software for your version of windows (download links below). Every time you boot windows it should tell you which version you are running. To download just click on the link below. Your web browser should handle things automatically. It may give you options to open or save. Save the file to a convenient place on your PC. (Somewhere in My Documents will work fine but remember where.)

Secondly: Run the file on your PC. To do this browse to where you saved it with windows explorer (probably somewhere in My Documents) and double click on the file. It will give you options to install the Div X player and or just the Div X codec. You only need the codec but if you want to then install the player along with the codec. The installation process should be relatively straight forward and the installation software should guide you through the process without major problems.

Once you have installed the codec you should be able to download and view the videos without a problem.

Operating System Size Download Link

  • 16MB DivXInstaller.exe
  • Windows 98/ME
  • 7MB DivX521ME98.exe

    Some Notes:

The files listed in the table above come from here. You may be able to find more recent versions at the source.

If you don't have windows media player installed then installing only the codec won't work. You need to install the codec and the player or alternatively you need to download windows media player first and install that. Once windows media player is installed you can install the codec as described above. Windows media player is available from here.

If you are running Linux or Unix you will need a different player altogether. I have Kaffeine installed and it plays the videos without any problems. (No extra tweaking or codecs required!) You can get Kaffeine here.
